     Colour

KVIS Polybutene is colourless (water white) and non-staining. The colour reads as low as 50 in APHA Scale. Product is stable at low temperature.

 
     Flash Point

Flash points of KVIS Polybutenes fluctuate with the ratio of the low molecular weight. We measure the flash point with a Cleveland open cup tester and are open to measure with a Pensky Martens closed cup tester on client’s request.

 
     Pour Point

Pour point is the lowest temperature at which it will pour or flow under approved conditions. As the average molecular weight increases, the pour point increases.

 
     Heat Loss (Loss on Heating)

Heat loss is weight loss on heating the substance for five hours in an air bath of 100 Deg.C. As the average molecular weight increases the amount of loss decreases.

 
     Viscosity

To suit various applications, KVIS Polybutenes are available in a broad range of viscosities. The kinematic viscosity of KVIS Polybutenes is between 10 and 5,000 CSt at 100 Deg.C. Viscosity is measured with a Cannon-Fenske capillary viscometer. Kinematic velocity will increase with the increase in the average molecular weight.

 
     Molecular Weight

The high molecular weight supported by the long ethyl side groups of the polymer chains sustains strong linking. The network laden by a high number of molecules would not crumble under high temperatures close to melting point. The typical number average molecular weight (Mn) of KVIS Polybutenes ranges between 250 and 2,700. The data has been generated using Gel Permeation Chromatography calibrated using poly styrene standards.
